When its warm

Summer at the lake

Mountains and lakes, forests and meadows, breathtaking mountain peaks and the beauty of the Alpine roses. The Alpenrose hotel is surrounded by some of the most beautiful excursion destinations in Tyrol. We're proud of that. And we want to share these places with our guests too.

Thanks to the Karwendel Alpine Park, a nature conservation area with unique flora and fauna is right on our doorstep. And we'll show you the best of the hiking paradise that is near the Alpenrose. During our special hiking weeks as well as during our summer programme of activities. Together with our leisure guides, discover the enigmatic beauty of nature several times a week on our guided hikes.

Climbers too value the region as one of the hotspots in the climbing world, because what's on offer here really does speak for itself: with around 250 sport climbing routes, four via ferrata, numerous Alpine classics and a high ropes course in Achenkirch, the Lake Achen region sets high standards in climbing. Even legends like Hermann Buhl cut their teeth on these local rock faces. A little more leisurely but still sporty in nature is Nordic walking, fans of which can be seen all around Lake Achen. An extensive network of routes, challenging tours in the mountains for the well honed athlete and leisurely paths for the aficionado are all on offer..

Mountainbike

The Lake Achen region is a paradise for mountain bikers – that is something that recreational cyclists and experts both agree on. All around Lake Achen, you can explore the area's beautiful landscapes on your mountain bike. Well  signposted routes mean that you can select the challenge that's just right for you.
250 km of excellently signposted, approved cycling and mountain biking routes varying in difficulty from "gentle" to "hard on the legs" are waiting to be discovered by all bicycle enthusiasts.

Amazingly well maintained and with fantastic views of the surrounding countryside – the Lake Achen region is still one of the top cycling regions in the Alps.

Golfing at the lake

You gaze into the distance, let your eye linger for a moment on the shimmering surface of Lake Achen, then bring your attention back to the golf ball and strike it. Into the middle of the fantastic mountain panorama, or so it seems. This is Alpine golf at its best.

The 18-hole golf course in Pertisau at the foot of the Karwendel is among the finest courses in the Alps. The local golf club Golf- und Landclubs Achensee, is the second-oldest in Austria. The elegant layout as well as its wonderful location by Tyrol's largest lake make the course a real golfing jewel. But what's really special is the fact that the first tee is practically in the middle of the village while the other holes offer that great Alpine golf feeling. The outstanding quality of the golf course is also attested to by the fact that the 'Golf- und Landclub Achensee' has been the venue three times for the European Senior Golf Tour. Our guests enjoy a free shuttle service from the Alpenrose to the golf course.

When it's white

Winter at the lake

The Lake Achen region is ideal for winter sports enthusiasts as well as for those seeking a slower pace. The air sparkles like champagne, the deep blue sky foreshadows the arrival of spring. And you'll love dashing over the pistes and cross-country ski trails or experiencing a little romance on a ride in a horse-drawn carriage.

Alpine Skiing and Cross country skiing

Excellently prepared pistes, well maintained downhill runs, cosy huts for retreating to later on – skiers and snowboarders can find their own piece of paradise all around the Alpenrose. Three mountain railways and around 30 cable cars and lifts connect the area's 50 kilometres of ski slopes. Waiting for the lifts here is a thing of the past. Even the youngest skiers can find the perfect spot for skiing here, and there are plenty of children's lifts and practice slopes for them. And that's not all: in the Alpenrose, we also provide the extra service of Free hire with no extra charge.

For sporting gourmets: in the 5-star cross-country skiing region around Lake Achen, you can choose your favourite route in one of the largest and best maintained networks of cross-country trails in Austria. On the network's more than 210 kilometres of trails, skiers can glide effortlessly into hibernating Karwender valleys or alongside the deep blue Lake Achen.

Although excellent snow conditions are almost guaranteed in the region, the 40 kilometres of cross-country runs can also be covered with artificial snow when required, thereby guaranteeing skiing fun even when the weather gets a little warmer. Skaters and Nordic cruisers can find their favourite route here too. 'Nordic cruising', by the way, is a type of skiing where wider, shorter skis are used. This version of cross-country skiing copies a person's natural walking motion; its diagonal stride is easily learned and is a lot of fun for the skier.

Hiking in Winterwonderland

Hiking in Tyrol has been a year-round activity for some time now, the lure of the winter landscape being a very special one. At this time of year, the thick blanket of snow dampens down any noise and nature reveals its most beautiful side.

Cleared hiking trails cross the region's fields and meadows, go past the lake shore and cut through the forest. Even along the glistening wintertime lake shore, the trails meander. Those who love silence can hike through the region's unspoiled nature with snow shoes. Step by step you'll come closer to your destination – whether that be a nice little rest in a cosy spot or your own inner peace.
